Festival dei Cammini di Francesco 2026
From 11 April to 31 May 2026, Assisi and several towns in Umbria host the Festival dei Cammini di Francesco, which celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2026 under the title Stay Close to Me and Sing. The Testament of Francis. The programme is part of the commemorations marking the eight hundredth anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi and offers a cultural programme combining spirituality, walking, art and civic reflection.
The festival draws inspiration from the final words and spiritual insights of Francis, interpreted as an invitation to walk together and share an experience of community and memory. The title evokes the relational dimension of the Franciscan message and suggests a way of engaging with the present based on closeness and mutual care.
The programme alternates walks along Franciscan routes, public talks, theatrical performances, concerts and moments of cultural discussion. The walking routes allow participants to discover landscapes and territories connected to Franciscan traditions, while the talks address topics such as environment, end-of-life issues, economy, memory and the relationship between humanity and nature.
Events take place in cultural venues and public spaces across several Umbrian towns, including Assisi, Perugia, Montone, Città di Castello and San Giustino, along a route linked to the paths associated with Francis.
