Francesco a Gubbio. Arte e spiritualità nella terra del lupo 2026

From 9 May to 13 September, Gubbio hosts Francesco a Gubbio. Art and Spirituality in the Land of the Wolf, a city-wide itinerary linking museums and Franciscan sites as part of the celebrations for the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi.

The circuit is accessible with a combined reduced-price ticket and includes the Palazzo dei Consoli, the Diocesan Museum and Cathedral, the Logge dei Tiratoi dedicated to local ceramic art, the Chiesa della Vittorina and the Chiesa di San Francesco della Pace, where the tomb of the wolf is preserved. Central to the project is the extraordinary opening of the Chiesa di San Francesco — the site of the Saint's first investiture — which will host an exhibition section featuring contemporary works by local artists, as well as the two cloisters normally closed to the public.

The project directly involves local artists and craftspeople, invited to reinterpret Franciscan themes through contemporary sensibilities.
