Along the southeastern shore of Lake Trasimeno lies the La Valle Nature Oasis.  Managed by the FAI, it covers 64 hectares of woods and olive groves. It can be accessed through the gate next to the Upper Basilica of Saint Francis, or from the Ponte dei Galli, near the Santa Croce Complex.
 Two trails lead into a world of hornbeams, oaks, woodland terrain, and cultivated fields, all the way to the olive trees featured in Michelangelo Pistoletto's land art installation. The park offers an accessible visit experience with guided walks, reading activities, educational games, and materials available in Easy to Read or AAC formats.
 Also in the area, the Park of Mount Subasio is an ideal spot for a family picnic among green meadows, panoramic views, and easy trails suitable for children.

 In Gualdo Cattaneo, there's a perfect destination for a day in the open air: Parco Acquarossa. Spread across 80 hectares of land, it stands on the site of what was once the largest lignite mine in the region in the last century.
The park offers a variety of activities for the whole family. Children can have fun in the adventure park, explore the educational farm, and learn about farming traditions in the museum of ancient agricultural machinery. There's also a large picnic area where visitors can relax freely.
 In summer, usually at the end of July, the park hosts the Balloon Grand Prix, an event where colourful hot air balloons take to the skies in a breathtaking show.
 Nearby, the Martani Mountains are well worth a visit, offering wide green spaces, trails immersed in nature, and spectacular views — perfect for a day of fun and relaxation with children.

Just a few kilometres from Todi, Leo Wild Park is a true wildlife oasis nestled among the Umbrian hills. Covering over 20 hectares, it is home to more than 250 animals living in freedom or semi-freedom.

Giraffes, zebras, fallow deer, llamas, ostriches, bison, yaks and many other species — some of them endangered — accompany visitors on a journey through biodiversity. It’s a unique opportunity for children to get close to animals they usually only see in documentaries, in a safe, educational and environmentally respectful setting.

Todi and its surroundings also offer other open-air experiences, such as a visit to the Beverly Pepper Park, where the urban environment gives way to the natural landscape of Todi, dotted with contemporary artworks by the New York artist.

Excitement and fun for everyone at the Centro Rafting Umbria in Serravalle di Norcia, in the province of Perugia, where you can go rafting on the River Corno: a thrilling 7-kilometre descent, safely guided by expert instructors who accompany brave “navigators” in inflatable rafts.

It’s a real river of adventures: in addition to rafting, the centre offers a wide range of activities, such as inflatable canoe tours, river trekking, mountain biking, paragliding, caving, archery, and even outdoor donkey rides.

Along the way, there are birdwatching hides and a panoramic tower, and even the opportunity to take a boat on the Tiber River to admire the area from a unique perspective.

Do your children love volcanoes? The small fortified village of San Venanzo, in the province of Terni, just a short drive from Todi and Orvieto, is the perfect place for you!

Nestled in the green Umbrian hills, the village is home to a magnificent Volcanological Park and Museum.

The San Venanzo Museum is one of only four volcanological museums in Italy, alongside those of Etna, Vesuvius, and Pantelleria.

In addition to evidence of ancient volcanic activity in the area, the museum houses important fossil remains – including a dinosaur egg!

From the museum, an easy trail leads to the park, where visitors can discover the remains of three small volcanoes that were active some 265,000 years ago.

Walking through the park, you’ll observe volcanic cones, craters, lava flows, rare rocks, and minerals. Among them is the famous Venanzite, a volcanic rock with a unique composition found nowhere else the world.
