Corsa all'Anello 2026
Narni, from 23 April to 10 May 2026, hosts the 58th edition of the Corsa all’Anello, an event that symbolically brings the town back to 1371, the year that inspires the entire programme. For over two weeks, the historic centre becomes the setting for reenactments and initiatives involving the local community and visitors.
The event draws inspiration from the ancient palio de anulo argenteo currendo, mentioned in the city statutes, in which knights had to spear a suspended ring while riding at full gallop. Today this tradition lives on in two main moments. On 3 May the Historical Race takes place in the ancient Platea Maior, while on the second Sunday of May the Campo de li Giochi hosts the Equestrian Joust, the central event of the celebration.
The three historic districts of the city, Mezule, Fraporta and Santa Maria, compete for the silver ring. Riders gallop along an elliptical track and must spear a small suspended iron ring; precision and timing determine the outcome of the contest.
On the eve of the Joust, the historic centre hosts the Grand Historical Parade, inspired by the procession in honour of Saint Juvenal documented in the 14th century. Participants parade through the streets wearing garments reconstructed from historical sources, offering a glimpse of medieval society in 1371.
