Isola Maggiore, on Lake Trasimeno, will host L’Isola del Merletto on Sunday, May 24, an event dedicated to lace-making traditions and the enhancement of textile arts. Now in its third edition, the event offers an opportunity to explore the relationship between culture, craftsmanship, and memory through a journey connecting local knowledge and Italian costume heritage. One of the highlights of this edition will be the exhibition of the Irish lace dress worn by Sophia Loren in the film Francesca e Nunziata, directed by Lina Wertmüller. Visitors will have the chance to closely observe a garment of historical and cinematic significance, representing tailoring excellence and lace-making tradition. The event will also feature costume designer Gabriele Mayer, creator of the dress, and Alessandra Cinti, its current owner and director of The One Costumes tailoring house in Rome.
