Mystica Visio. San Francesco, Jacopone e le arti 2026

From 24 May to 19 July, Todi hosts Mystica Visio. San Francesco, Jacopone e le arti, an exhibition curated by Massimo Mattioli at the Sala delle Pietre, with works also displayed at the Museo Civico and other venues across the city, as part of the celebrations for the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi.

The exhibition takes as its starting point the ideal relationship between San Francesco and Jacopone da Todi — complementary visions of medieval mysticism — exploring through the works on display themes such as poverty, the body and paradox. The artists, spanning several generations, include AES+F, Agostino Arrivabene, Bruno Ceccobelli, Gerardo Dottori, Antonio Marras, Marco Tirelli and Nicola Verlato, among others. The route also takes in the Cappella dell'Istituto Veralli Cortesi, with Dottori's fresco cycle devoted to the life of San Francesco.
