The stage runs through woodland and sun-exposed sections as far as the small town of Pietralunga.
After approximately 6 kilometres from the starting point, the route reaches the locality of Il Sasso, a useful place to stop and replenish water and food supplies. From here, a gradual ascent begins, followed by a descent to Pieve de’ Saddi, a centre of early Christianisation in the Upper Tiber Valley and, for centuries, a religious reference point for the entire mountain area.
The route then continues through a succession of ascents and descents, crossing valleys and fields with several places to stop, before reaching Pietralunga.
The length of the stage can be shortened by stopping at one of the intermediate points.
