The stage follows a series of ascents and descents along secondary roads and mule tracks. The first section crosses mountain valleys, while in the second part the quiet woods give way to cultivated fields and villages, and the route continues on level ground as far as Gubbio.

The journey is marked by hermitages, abbeys and small villages. The route ends in front of the Church of San Francesco, where walkers are welcomed by the statue depicting Francis and the wolf, recalling the miracle of the ferocious beast tamed by the Saint.
